Thermoforming

basic thermoforming process image

Thermoforming is a plastic manufacturing process that uses pressure or the force of a vacuum to stretch thermoplastic material over a mold to create a three-dimensional shape, part, configuration, or other form of plastic product. Cups, containers, lids and trays are formed by using thin sheets of ABS plastic, while thicker sheets of ABS plastic are used to produce car doors and dash panels, refrigerator liners, and plastic pallets. Many household and craft products can also be produced by thermoforming such as candy molds, Halloween masks, RC car chassis, golf cart parts, resin molds and so much more! The process we use for thermoforming is vacuum forming which is used to stretch the heated thermoplastic over the surface of the mold/ buck.
