  • The city allows motorized cart (e.g., golf cart) use under specific circumstances.

  • Motorized carts must be registered and display a T-Number.

  • They are permitted to operate only on designated streets.

 Motorized Cart Registration Process:

  • New T-Numbers for motorized carts are issued as of January 18, 2022, at the South Annex, 1509 Strand Avenue.

  • Registration and inspections are conducted Monday-Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

  • An initial registration fee of $15 is required.

  • Criteria for registration include owner's valid driver’s license, proof of insurance meeting state minimum liability standards, and adherence to specific equipment requirements.

 Criteria for Motorized Cart Registration:

  • Valid driver’s license and insurance meeting state liability standards are required.

  • The cart must have operational headlights, taillights, brake lights, turn signals, horn, seat belts, and a top-mounted amber flashing light.

  • Maximum speed capability must not exceed 20 miles per hour.

 Motorized Cart Operation Rules:

  • Required equipment includes operational headlights, tail lights, brake lights, top-mounted amber flashing or rotating light, turn signals, horn, and seat belts.

  • Maximum speed capability must not exceed 20 miles per hour.

  • All occupants must wear seat belts at all times.

  • Sidewalk operation is prohibited.

  • Operators must adhere to all traffic regulations applicable to regular traffic.

  • Only licensed drivers 16 years of age or older with minimum insurance coverage may operate these vehicles.

Parking Regulations for Motorized Carts:

  • Parking regulations must be followed, with payment via meter or decal.

  • Parking decals for golf carts are available for purchase at the South Annex, 1509 Strand Avenue.



2.)Peachtree City, GA

Pathway Etiquette:

  •   No racing or blocking public access, except for approved special events.

  •   Avoid loitering on bridges or in underpasses.

  •   Follow normal rules of the road, yielding to pedestrians and passing on the left side.

  •   Dispose of trash properly, as fines double for littering on the paths.

  •   Helmets are mandatory for all operators of electric vehicles, regardless of age.

  •   Audible warnings are required when approaching pedestrians from behind.

Golf Cart Regulations:

  •   Registration is mandatory within 10 days of purchase, with updates required for address changes within 60 days.

  •   No passengers may sit in the driver’s lap while the cart is in motion.

  •   Standing or hanging onto a moving cart is prohibited.

  •   Keep hands and feet inside the cart while in motion.

  •   Use designated paths instead of parallel city streets, with specific exceptions for authorized crossings.

  •   Carts driven at night must have functional headlights and tail lights.

  • Drivers must be over 14 years old; DUI laws apply, and all traffic ordinances must be followed, including stop lights and yielding to pedestrians.

  • In The Villages, golf cart lanes are marked with a diamond pattern; otherwise, carts should stick to the far right of the street.

  • Safety equipment such as windshields, seat belts, turn signals, and reflective devices are recommended for preventing accidents.

  • Common accidents include collisions with other vehicles or pedestrians, ejection due to sudden braking, overturning on uneven terrain, and falling out while standing.
